Welcome to the Senate Standing Committee on Insurance

JURISDICTION: Bills relating to insurance other than bills relating to workers' compensation, public and private health insurance, and unemployment insurance. The committee also hears bills related to the State Compensation Insurance Fund, the Department of Insurance, and the "business of insurance" generally, including issues such as insurer solvency, trade practices, etc.

Senate Insurance Committee hearings for the 2025-26 Legislative Session meet 2nd and 4th Wednesdays at 1:30 P.M. in Room 2100, 1021 O Street. Please check the Daily File for any schedule changes.

Position Letters: Support and Opposition letters received by the Committee less than nine (9) calendar days prior to a hearing on a bill are not assured of being reflected in a Committee analysis. Only those letters which clearly indicate "Support" or "Oppose" to the current version of the bill may be noted in the Committee analysis. Letters from organizations must be on letterhead, include a signature, and reference the latest amended version of the bill. Electronic copies of letters are acceptable if they are on letterhead with a signature.

When submitting coalition letters or position letters on behalf of one or more organizations, please ensure that the correct organization name(s) are selected within the Advocacy Portal. If needed, you can add an unregistered organization into the system.
